International Academy of Trial Lawyers
The Academy is a group of truly elite trial lawyers representing both sides of the Bar: prosecutors and defense lawyers in criminal cases, and plaintiffs’ and defense counsel in civil litigation (including business and personal injury cases).

Lee B. Wenzel Civility and Professionalism Award
The Lee B. Wenzel Civility award was established in 1993. The Los Angeles Chapter of ABOTA awards the Lee B. Wenzel Civility award to the attorney who regularly demonstrates qualities of professionalism, civility, graciousness and high moral and ethical standards as exemplified by the late Lee B. Wenzel.

Cahalan Award
The Cahalan Award is presented annually to Loyola alumni to honor the enduring contributions of former president, Fr. Patrick J. Cahalan, SJ+, during his 27 years of service to your alma mater. It is given in recognition of his belief in the ideals of Loyola and the Ignatian spirit of the Magis as exemplified through distinguished and meritorious service to Loyola and its community, the city of Los Angeles, the state of California and the United States.

Trial Lawyer of the Year (Employment)
Every year, local trial lawyers are commemorated for their remarkable achievements at OCTLA’s annual Top Gun Trial Lawyer of the Year Awards Program. These individuals have demonstrated exceptional trial skills, commitment to their clients, and dedication to the principles of legal ethics and preserving access to the civil justice system. Distinguished Alumnus
Long before he was securing verdicts for underdog plaintiffs who had been harmed by a wide range of well-resourced defendants, alumnus John “Jack” A. Girardi ’72 learned the importance of being an attorney for others during his time at LMU Loyola Law School.
